Clarification of Athlete Representation in International Competitions

As the Hong Kong Federation of Roller Sports (HKFRS), we work closely with the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) to govern and develop roller sports, including skateboarding, within the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. Our mission is to support athletes and foster a thriving sporting community in the region.

Addressing Concerns About Athlete Representation

Recently, the SF&OC received a complaint from an individual regarding their right to represent Hong Kong SAR China and participate in overseas competitions. It has been clarified that the Skateboarding Association with which the individual is affiliated, is not a member of the Sports Association and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China.

Consequently, the individual has been advised to contact the Hong Kong Federation of Roller Sports, a member of the SF&OC, National Sporting Association, and Governing body of Roller Sports and Skateboarding in Hong Kong, to discuss their representation in international events.

Both the SF&OC and the HKFRS emphasize the importance of athletes working closely with their respective sports associations to ensure they follow the correct procedures and guidelines for participating in international competitions.

This includes adhering to eligibility requirements, abiding by the rules and regulations of the specific sport, and maintaining open communication with the governing bodies involved. We remain committed to supporting athletes and fostering a strong sporting community in Hong Kong.
